“A fool thinks he knows everything. But a wise person understands there is something to learn from everyone.” With the publishing industry evolving like ever before, media houses and bloggers need to fish for ways they can stand out from the rest. And only when you are open to learning new things, observing what others in the industry have done, and discussing experiments and ideas, can you really grow. This article shares a list of communities that publishers need to be a part of to make their brand fly to the moon.

Communities are your catalyst to growth

Networking with people from your industry always helps build a better perspective of things. Peer learning by understanding the nuances, the challenges others have faced, the experiments they have tried out and the milestones they have achieved all add on to what you as a brand can do. Get in touch with hundreds of other publishers who are facing the same challenges and opportunities like yours.

Being part of a community also provides access to different discussion forums where you can share your ideas talk about the persisting hurdles you are facing or even ask for suggestions to improve. You can easily reach industry experts who can hone your skills to succeed. Be a part of a discussion, that will help you come up with new ideas, share your thoughts about a topic and contribute to your interest. Being a part of a community also gives you access to their exclusive research papers, content pieces, and lets you partake in the events they host. Some marketers might say groups on social media might cut it for your daily dose of information, but it is far from the truth.

Social media is not the panacea

There, I said it. Hanging out on Linkedin or Twitter to gain insights and information is like waiting for the blue moon. There is so much noise out there, that filtering information becomes a tedious task. More than 10% of Twitter is spam. Video posts are given higher priority making text content that may be vital to get buried deep down. Urgh!

As far as groups on social media are concerned, I personally have been part of a plethora of groups on Facebook, Twitter as well as on LinkedIn. And here is the thing- it’s a big bag of almost everything. The groups that are open to everyone have content flowing in right, left, and center, mostly about things that are not in the niche of the group. These groups also have members screaming from the rooftop about themselves, more than the number of times Trump said the election was a fraud. This clearly defeats the purpose of the group.

Cut the noise. Tune in for badass content and badass people

There is a scarcity of Intelligent input and conversations that would help publishers gain new insights to work upon. Communities, on the other hand, meet all the requirements. Communities cater to a niche and are membership-based. This assures that content served and shared are monitored and discussions are with like-minded people and industry experts.

Communities help members get access to exclusive content, spur discussions, encourage participation, and share actionable insights. Communities help publishers to hone their skills, get a sense of what others think of it, polish the ideas, and then get it rolling. Communities broadcast the best narratives in th3e ecosystem, and usually have members that are more diverse, helping you get better exposure and provide the right motivation and get your ideas vetted.
