We have been building iZooto for a little over 2 years now and we have slowly but steadily scaled to about 15,000 businesses pushing over 1.75B+ notifications every month. In the last 12 months, we have focused a lot more on speaking with customers to understand them better. When we look back at our customer interviews, 2 key insights stand out -
80% of our business is attributed to retailers ( Growing SMB’s and Midmarket )
75% of these retailers were using SaaS platform such as Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce
While you could integrate iZooto with any e-commerce platform out there, we wanted to solve the key challenges around user acquisition and engagement. The most efficient way of doing so was to integrate deeply with these commerce platforms. We weighed our options and decided to go all in with Shopify. Shopify has been ahead on the commerce curve from most of its peers. Add to that a brilliant community for both partners and merchants. We made this choice almost 8 months and we have never looked back.
Over the last 8 months, we have spoken with 100+ Shopify merchants, 50 Plus merchants. We asked 2 simple questions-
What is the #1 problem that you want to focus on as a growing business
Is there anything that is stopping you from attacking that problem with your full might.? If yes, what is it?
Most of the answers revolved around - not getting enough conversions or how marketing channels fail to scale beyond a certain point. What is also exciting is that the average size of a merchant team was less than 10. Given that Shopify does a decent job at removing technical overheads, most of the merchant teams(s) were pretty much one woman(man) shops. Moreover, they were doing anywhere between $100K to $1M in overall revenue - This speaks volumes about the underlying platform and the app ecosystem.
The last few months at iZooto have been all about understanding more about the Shopify ecosystem - partners, integrations and working together with merchants. We recently upgraded our Shopify app to make retargeting a 2 click trivial process.
What brings us to Unite?
Meeting partners and getting to know the Shopify ecosystem better. We plan to hang around Toronto, Montreal, Waterloo for a week after Unite. If you are around, we would love to catch up for a beer (or Coffee). Reach out to me on @Vivekk or @Shrikantkale
