Confused between OneSignal and Aimtell? We have got you. We know how marketers out there are looking for tools that are easier to use, offer automation, and all of this at an affordable price. Because software listing websites like G2 or Capterra don't offer much, we decided to do this on our own.

In this review, we have compared OneSignal vs Aimtell on things that matter -

  • Ease of Use
  • Capabilities and Features
  • Customer Support and Onboarding
  • Affordability and ROI
  • What stands out

With web push notifications, in-app notifications, SMS, and email, OneSignal is more of an omnichannel platform built for developers. Aimtell started off as a go-to web push tool for e-commerce marketers and now with integration with PushPROS now also allows monetization capabilities. Let's go into specifics so that you can make a much more informed decision.

1. OneSignal vs Aimtell: Getting Started and Ease of Use

Getting started with either OneSignal or Aimtell is quite easy. Both offer native plugins across popular website-building platforms. If you have your website on WordPress, it won't take more than 5 minutes to go live with web push notifications.

When it comes to websites built with custom code, integrating OneSignal might be a bit tricky. This is mainly because OneSignal offers more than just web push notifications and also the copy is more suited for developers.

Here's how the setup page for OneSignal looks like -

The next step is sending out notifications which again is fairly simple. Both the tools offer A/B testing which might be useful for use cases such as Sale Promotion. Both OneSignal and Aimtell allow you to create multiple audiences segments. There's one difference that might be a deciding factor. While OneSignal offers ready segments such as subscriber location, subscription date, and browser, Aimtell goes a step ahead also offers page views and previous campaigns in one place. This is something that can be achieved with OneSignal as well but would require you to be familiar with setting up events.

If you're just exploring push notifications, a quick pricing comparison of OneSignal vs Aimtell will help. Because Aimtell doesn't offer a free plan, we are considering OneSignal's Growth Plan ($39 for 10K Subscribers) and Aimtell's Basic plan that starts at $49 for 10K subscribers.

2. OneSignal vs Aimtell: Features

Both OneSignal and Aimtell have features that can be quite helpful. You can set up automated notifications basis subscriber actions and there are templates that you can clone. However, apart from Abandoned cart, Aimtell has nothing more to offer just like OneSignal. One would need to set up their own workflows to make use of automation.

If you're looking for ready-to-launch templates, you can consider iZooto as well that offers playbooks to boost engagement and conversions for your website.

Aimtell also offers audience monetization with its integration with PushPROS. This is something that might give Aimtell an upper hand. You can either manually push out ads to your subscribers or you can opt for Aimtell's managed services.

3. OneSignal vs Aimtell: Customer Support

Both OneSignal and Aimtell are based out of the US and that's why it makes sense for their support team to work in the US timezone. However, both the platforms are fairly responsive over emails and provide proper information with relevant help docs.

In case you want Premium Support, you would need to shell out some extra $$ and get on to the Enterprise plans that OneSignal and Aimtell offer.

If you’re looking for more than stellar customer support, then you can try iZooto, which has been awarded the highest customer satisfaction rating by G2, 3 times in a row. For large accounts, we assign a dedicated Account Manager who ensures that you're making the most out of push notifications. 4. OneSignal vs Aimtell: Affordability and ROI

Both the tools cater to different persona which can be seen in their pricing as well. While OneSignal offers a free plan, Aimtell doesn't. OneSignal's paid plan follows a per subscriber pricing, something which is suited for developers. Aimtell has slab-based pricing, something which is quite common for marketing tools.

Here's how much a business with 100K visitors coming to their website would pay -

Month 1

Month 2

Month 3

Month 4

Month 5

Month 6

OneSignal Grow $21 $33 $45 $57 $69 $81
OneSignal Professional $111 $123 $135 $147 $159 $171
Aimtell Basic $49 $49 Upgrade Upgrade Upgrade Upgrade
Aimtell Plus $99 $99 $99 $99 $99 $99

Not many people realize but as and when you scale, your cost with OneSignal increases manifold. It's majorly because of how they have designed their plans. But you get access to Email (they have a free trial till December 1st, 2021) and SMS. Aimtell on the other hand has a fixed price for each slab and you have to upgrade to the next plan in case you cross the subscriber limit.

When it comes to ROI G2's latest report says it all. Customers of iZooto are able to achieve their ROI in 6 months whereas it takes 11 months for OneSignal and there's no data available for Aimtell.

Our Verdict on OneSignal vs Aimtell

Aimtell is built for marketers, specifically e-commerce marketers. But there are better alternatives there as well - PushOwl (if you're just starting out) and PushEngage (Enterprise only). With the addition of audience monetization, Aimtell is trying to get in some publishers but again it still isn't truly built for publishers.

Here' our take on OneSignal vs Aimtell -

  1. Pick Aimtell if you have an online store, but limited developer bandwidth. Also, if you're an affiliate who wants to try out monetization, you can try out Aimtell.
  2. Pick OneSignal if you want more than just web push notifications and have a dedicated development team who can take another project.
