Choosing a push notification platform is not easy. You want to make sure that you choose the best so that you don't have to keep migrating to another tool. You want to engage by reaching out to the right audience at the right time. This is where segmentation and automation make their way. I know it can be a lot - to find a tool that does the work for you - engage, retain and monetize. We have taken the liberty to review and compare two tools that you are considering choosing from to make it easier for you. Let’s get started.
We will compare OneSignal vs FoxPush on things that matter -
If you are in the middle east, FoxPush is a tool you should consider, since they are limited to that region. They have been having a hawk eye focus on web push notifications whereas OneSignal has diversified its marketing channels and has web push, in-app, mobile push, SMS, and email. FoxPush majorly focuses on publishers and e-commerce whereas OneSignal focuses on news and media, gaming, and e-commerce.
Ease of UseHere's how the setup page for OneSignal looks like -
OneSignal has integrations with popular platforms and is on WordPress VIP as well. Whereas in FoxPush, they do not have a WordPress plugin, which makes it tricky for publishers to get started. As for the initial setup, the steps on FoxPush it straight forward and one does not need any technical knowledge. The initial steps include choosing a prompt you want to go ahead with and displaying the code to kick setup the tool. As for OneSignal, it provides you with 3 options to choose from based on what your website is on. If you are using the custom code then it becomes a bit cumbersome as it redirects you to help docs.
What FoxPush setup page looks like-As for creating a campaign, both tools are easy to use. In the free plan, FoxPush lets one segment based on geo, device, and categories, which are predefined by them. OneSignal on the other hand lets you create up to 6 segments in the free plan of OneSignal.
Here is what the free plan for OneSignal and FoxPush have-

OneSignal |
FoxPush |
Subscriber Limit | Unlimited but you can send a notification to 10K subs only at once | Unlimited subscribers and notifications |
Custom Segments | Up to 6 | No |
Scheduling Notifications | Yes | Yes |
Send Notification basis timezone | Yes | No |
If you plan to segment your audeince a lot, you can consider FoxPush as it offers unlimited subscribers and push. However, segmentation is one of the best practices to get better engagement rates. Onesignal will be a good option if you are plan to have sophisticated audiences and send notifications based on audience timezone.

FoxPush is not as feature-heavy as One Signal. Options are limited in the free plan as well, with few segmentation features and A/B testing missing in FoxPush. In the Custom Plan of FoxPush, one can send personalized notifications, use campaign templates, and make use of behavioral targeting and cart abandonment playbook. To activate the personalization features when on a free plan, one needs to get in touch with the team. Customers however have been complaining about delayed/ no response from the team.
OneSignal is packed with features if you compare it with FoxPush. In the enterprise plan, OneSignal has playbooks such as recover abandoned carts, browse abandonment signal has a Shopify integration as well.
When it comes to segmentation, they have pre-defined segments, which can be a bit confusing as you need to choose from that specific list. One explanation for this would be that they are collecting data to create their own audience in the backend to send ads.
API Capability |
FoxPush |
OneSignal |
Send notification to all subscribers | Yes | Yes |
Send notification to a segment of Subscribers | Yes | Yes |
Send notification to an individual subscriber | Yes | Yes |
FoxPush has segmentation features right from the free plan, whereas it is not available in OneSignal. If monetizing your audience is on your plate, then FoxPush is something you need to take a closer look at. FoxPush in fact would be better for affiliates rather than publishers.
OneSignal provides support right from the free plan and responds well to email. When it comes to FoxPush, it is a bit of a black box. Most customers do have complaints about the customer support they provide, and the promptness of the response. They currently do not have any review on G2Crowd.
If you consider customer support to be really important for you and the plans you choose FoxPush might not be a good option for you. Are you someone who places a quick response rate as one of the must-haves? Then iZooto might be the right fit for you. Along with an amazing set of features, it has been bagging the highest customer satisfaction rating by G2, 3 times in a row.
FoxPush unlike most of the push platforms out there has just two plans - Free and Custom. The custom plan has a lot more features included and one has to get in touch with the team to get a quote.
As for OneSignal, though it seems like a free-to-use tool, once your subscribers start increasing, the cost just shoots up. You inevitably end up spending more based on the features that are available in different pricing slabs.
Did you know that customers of iZooto are able to achieve their ROI in 6 months?
Both OneSignal and FoxPush provide features to achieve your end goal. But, now the question here is - at what cost? One important thing to keep in mind is FoxPush is limited to the Middle East. Other than that customers have seen delivery issues and low response rates from the team at FoxPush.
